The White House revealed on Tuesday that Russia’s Wagner group was gearing up to enhance the air defences of either Lebanon’s Hezbollah movement or the Iranian regime.
This move is characterized as an “unprecedented defence cooperation” between Russia and these two US adversaries. According to National Security Council spokesman John Kirby, the information they have suggests that Wagner, under the guidance of the Russian government, was making preparations to supply air defence capabilities to either Hezbollah or Iran.
“Our information… indicates that Wagner, at the direction of the Russian government, was preparing to provide an air defence capability to either Hezbollah or Iran,” National Security Council spokesman John Kirby told reporters.
On the other hand, The United States military has experienced a concerning uptick in attacks within the regions of Iraq and Syria, tallying a total of 58 incidents targeting American troops since October 17, as reported by the Pentagon.
